WELCOME ABOARD MedOpen ICZM TRAINEE!
We are starting our joint journey now. We wish you a pleasant and fruitful trip, a lot of discoveries and fun ...
If you are a Basic trainee, read carefully the Lecture 1 (out of 12 in total) and take a test - a short game, which enables you to compete with the other trainees. After you have finished the lecture, proceed at your own pace.
To obtain the MedOpen ICZM Basic certificate the total percentage of points won in the test should not be less than 65%.
Your score will be displayed in the "score list" under the name you have selected.
You may take each game twice. After taking the game once, correct and wrong answers will be indicated. After the second trial, the game option will disappear from your page.
- Below each question there is an indication of the total number of points you might win when answering a question.
- For the final score, a better result will be taken into consideration.
- Time will be monitored only during your staying on the game page. If you go back to the lecture, the time spent there won't be taken into consideration.
- Time is calculated in the total amount, meaning the time needed for the first and the second trial is added.
If you are an Advanced trainee, your task during this three-month training course will be to carefully read 12 lectures (the Adavanced materilas) introduced on a weekly basis (i.e. one lecture per week) and accompanied by the additional reading materials. Also, you'll be requested to discuss the lecture topics with with your lecturers and with each other at the discussion Forum which is designed to share ideas and comments with a focus on building your knowledge and skills. Only the capacity to interactively communicate through the MedOpen ICZM Forum will enable this course to meet the demands of your advanced group.
Starting from week 5 (in parallel with Lectures 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9), the Practical Simulation Game will be developed providing you with the opportunity to experience a simulated coastal management situation and participate in finding practical sustainable solutions. The Simulation Game is based on participation in a group work and requires that you, the Advanced trainees, are consistently networking for the duration of the exercise which is moderated by the Simulation Game Co-ordinator. The Simulation Game Forum is used as a space for most of communications during the practical Simulation Game.
Finally, you'll be invited to propose and prepare a Final Essay on the theme previously discussed with and approved by the Head Lecturer. The preparation of the Final Essay offers you an opportunity for applying knowledge obtained and skills learned in this course. Your work will be assessed by the Head lecturer - the coastal management expert who gives an expert opinion on the solution that you have proposed. Moreover, all Final Essays will be presented for the peer review.
Only those who have actively participated in the Forum discussion and the Simulation Game, and whose Final Essay has been positively assessed by the Head Lecturer will be awarded the MedOpen ICZM certificate.
